    The Paul Hanlon Keating
    Memorial Scholarship

Our Foundation is proud to sponsor
    the Paul Hanlon Keating Memorial
    Scholarship. The establishment of
this scholarship is to honor the heroic
efforts of the police, fire and emergency
    personnel that responded to the
September 11, 2001 World Trade Center
    disaster.

Paul Hanlon Keating was 38 years old, and assigned to Ladder 5
FDNY in Greenwich Village, N.Y.C. He was a 6 year veteran firefighter.
Paul came from a family that has three generations of police and
emergency service in the NYPD, from his grandfather (40 years) to
    his uncle and cousins.

On the tragic morning of September 11, Paul Hanlon Keating was
off duty.  He was at his apartment, just blocks away from the World
Trade Center. He witnessed first hand the horrible explosion of the
first plane crashing into the World Trade Center.  From his apartment
on Cedar Street, Paul placed one final phone call to a friend.  He
told his friend that "he had to go now, to go help his brothers."

Paul Hanlon Keating, along with 342 other brother firefighters of the
FDNY gave their lives so others could be saved on that morning of
9-11-01. On February 6th, 2001 the body of Paul Hanlon Keating
was recovered from what had been the lobby of Tower #2. Paul was
laid to rest on February 11, 2001 exactly 5 months after responding
to help his brothers on that tragic morning of Sept. 11, 2001. A day
that none of us will ever forget.

A day that defined the true grit and resolve of our great nation.
