Kate Roach

Kate Roach - Class of 2000

In 2018, Kate became a founding member of the town's Panthers Let's Eat Program after learning from her daughter that a classmate's only meal each day was the one provided at school. As she discovered that other children in the district faced the same hardship, Kate knew something had to be done. Together with Kristin Hart, Kate began purchasing groceries for families in need, an effort that soon grew into the Panthers Let's Eat Program (PLE).

During its first summer, the program served just 12 families and 25 children. Today, it supports 237 students across 110 families, providing approximately 25,000 meals each year. Its primary mission is to ensure that students enrolled in the district's free and reduced-price lunch program continue to have access to healthy, kid-friendly meals when school is not in session. Over the years, Panthers Let's Eat has evolved into much more than a summer meal program. PLE provides backpacks filled with supplies to students in need, Thanksgiving meals to families, Christmas gifts to the children on the program and emergency assistance all year long to those in need which may include a death in the family, ailing family member, house fire, loss of job of a guardian and other hardships.  The program has become a trusted resource for families throughout the district, offering support whenever a need arises.

Kate is honored for her unwavering compassion, leadership, and extraordinary dedication to serving those in need throughout the Point Pleasant Boro community. Through her vision and selfless commitment, she has made a lasting difference in the lives of countless children and families.
